Update nach Unfall während der NLS4

Langstreckenrennen der NLS 4 auf der Nürburgringnordschleife

Beim Langstreckenrennen der NLS 4 auf der Nürburgringnordschleife am 17.06.2023 waren wir wieder mit dem Team Sorg Rennsport mit dem 1-er BMW (128ti) in der Klasse VT2 FWD mit der Startnummer 488 am Start. Die gewohnte Fahrerbesetzung in der NLS: Andreas Andersson (SW), Kurt Strube (GER) und Bernhard Wagner (AUT).
Das Zeittraining war geprägt von vielen Code-60-Phasen, sodass wir keine einzige freie Runde absolvieren konnten und im Rennen relativ weit hinten starten mussten.
Andreas unser bewährter Startfahrer konnte Runde um Runde Plätze gut machen bevor er das Fahrzeug an Kurt übergab. Auch Kurt gelang es den 1-er BMW im Mittelfeld der Klasse zu platzieren bevor Bernhard für den letzten Teil des 4h-Rennens das Auto übernahm. Die Rundenzeiten konnten sich sehen lassen und bis etwa eine halbe Stunde vor Rennende waren wir mit einer vielversprechenden Pace unterwegs.
Bedauerlicher Weise kam es dann zu einem Zwischenfall im Bereich Anfahrt zum Hatzenbach. Wir verloren durch einen technischen Defekt das linke Vorderrad, der Einschlag in die Leitplanken mit weit über 100km/h war unvermeidbar und das Rennen für uns Geschichte!
Leider hat sich Bernhard dabei am linken Fuß verletzt, 4 von 5 Mittelfußknochen sind gebrochen. In Abstimmung mit den behandelnden Ärzten konnte auf eine OP erst mal verzichtet werden. Fixierung und Ruhigstellung mit VACOped Schienung sowie 6 Wochen Gehstützen ohne jegliche Belastung sind erst mal verordnet. NLS5 fällt für Bernhard somit aus aber spätestens beim 12h-Rennen (2 x 6h) im September ist er bestimmt wieder dabei.

UPDATE after accident during NLS4

At the long-distance race of the NLS 4 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife on June 17th, 2023, we were again at the start with the Sorg Rennsport team with the 1-series BMW (128ti) in the VT2 FWD class with start number 488. The usual driver line-up in the NLS: Andreas Andersson (SW), Kurt Strube (GER) and Bernhard Wagner (AUT).
The qualifying was characterized by many Code 60 phases, so we couldn't complete a single free lap and had to start relatively far back in the race.
Andreas, our proven starting driver, was able to make up places lap after lap before he handed the vehicle over to Kurt. Kurt also managed to place the 1-series BMW in the middle of the class before Bernhard took over the car for the last part of the 4-hour race. The lap times were impressive and we were on the road with a promising pace until about half an hour before the end of the race.
Regrettably, there was an incident in the area approaching the Hatzenbach. We lost the left front wheel due to a technical defect, hitting the crash barrier at well over 100 km/h was unavoidable and the race was history for us!
Unfortunately, Bernhard injured his left foot, 4 of 5 metatarsal bones were broken. In coordination with the attending physicians, an operation could be dispensed with for the time being. Fixation and immobilization with VACOped splints and 6 weeks of crutches without any strain are prescribed for the time being. NLS5 is therefore canceled for Bernhard, but he will definitely be back at the 12h race (2 x 6h) in September at the latest.
